RV and recreational vehicle insurance
Recreational vehicles come in many forms and need coverage that reflects how they are used. A stationary motorhome used as a primary home, whether owned or rented, may need residential-style coverage. Campers and caravans can require specialist insurance because ordinary auto coverage may not cover the belongings kept inside.
Off-road vehicles have their own insurance needs, including liability arising from use and optional protection for collisions, fire, theft and other covered events.
- Compare policy features, limitations and exclusions as well as price.
- For an older vehicle, ask whether adjusting comprehensive or collision coverage, or choosing a higher deductible, would be appropriate for the vehicle's value and your circumstances.
- If you often travel to the United States, ask whether a $2 million liability limit or another suitable limit would be appropriate.
Motorcycle insurance
Motorcycle owners should confirm the insurance required for riding in Ontario, including applicable liability, accident and uninsured-motorist protection. Ask how your policy responds to hit-and-run accidents and collisions involving uninsured drivers.
Comprehensive and collision coverage may be particularly worth reviewing for new or vintage motorcycles. Tell your broker about modifications and specialist bikes. A-Z Insurance can help review suitable coverage, endorsements and available discounts.
Boat and personal watercraft insurance
A home policy may provide limited protection for small boats such as kayaks or canoes. A larger boat or a personal watercraft, such as a jet ski, may need a separate policy. Boat insurance can be arranged for the vessel, attached equipment such as GPS and a trailer, using actual cash value or an agreed value where offered.
Review liability protection for injuries to passengers and damage caused to others, together with the policy's conditions and exclusions.
- Check the size, motor power and value limits on any boat coverage provided by your home insurance.
- Confirm the permitted navigation area and whether transporting the boat over land or taking it beyond that area requires additional coverage.
- Review off-season coverage based on where and how the boat is stored.
- If you frequently travel to the United States, discuss whether higher liability limits would suit your needs.
